BLUEBOOK OF PIANOS

ALL NEW APPROXIMATE PIANO PRICES

Price is often the key to quality in pianos. But some factors do affect the price without affecting the quality. Find out where the piano was made. The cost of rent, labor, and taxes varies in different parts of the country. Transportation expenses may also increase the cost to you if the piano comes from a distant part of the country. There are no two markets that are exactly alike, and retail prices are set by individual dealers. These are not manufacturers suggested list prices. Use this as a guide, and only a guide for a starting point. Please mark this as a favorite and check back weekly for important pricing information.

PLEASE NOTE

This site is designed to provide prospective piano buyers with an unbiased point of view into the purchase of a piano without weighing them down with mind-numbing techno-babble. There's more to a piano than just the brand, type and size. This guide is directed to the interests and guidance of the prospective piano buyer, it is an objective, non-slanted, and a third party approach which can serve to reinforce a consumer’s interest in a piano.

This is a working list and not all data is complete. Therefore, use this list as a starting point, and not as a final source. Our information is intended for use in public libraries and educational institutions. It is subject to individual dealer markup and manufacturer price increases as well as currency exchanges. These prices are not "official" and can change without notice. We constantly request price updates from factories but some factories state that retail pricing is the responsibility of the dealer, (although Factory Representatives write to us and ask up to update our facts - but they don't offer any new information, this is called CYA). This is the nature of the piano business. The truth is there are very few accurate retail prices.

When shopping for a piano you'll find that dealers don't give you price information over the phone. They expect  you to come into the store and hear a sales pitch before prices are given. You may have found that each dealer has their own "List Price" for their pianos and there often is no consistent information available to you that will help you know what is a fair price for a particular piano. No two dealers are alike, and no two markets are alike. One dealer may mark their piano list price up considerably higher than another so that when they discount the price, it seems that you are getting a much better deal.
