Pianos and Their Prices
2010
Prices are given only for the lowest-priced style of each model. These are actual selling prices. This list does not include the many furniture styles and finishes. Any such price list would only cause confusion in the marketplace. These are "Main Street Prices" not manufacturers suggested list prices. In order to level the playing field for comparing prices, prices in this guide are computed to a uniform “piano industry standard” formula.
Our retail street prices are based on piano industry reported sales figures for the last 30 years. Prices listed are weighted average "retail prices", obtained from the information contained in Marketing and Statistical Government Reports, & Factory Wholesale Prices. In addition to list prices in the Ancott Music Product Directory, the standard Piano Technician and Piano Dealer Wholesale and Retail Price Guide. (Sold only to the piano trade). We do not accept advertising from manufactures or large retailers - to do so would obligate us to comply with the wishes of those spending thousands of dollars to place ads on our website. Needless to say this would certainly invalidate our unbiased rating of any quality therein.
Retail pricing is the responsibility of the dealer. No two dealers are alike, no two markets are alike and many starting retail prices are set by individual dealers. Naturally, suggested retail and actual selling price will vary slightly depending on location and circumstance. None of our published price guides profess to provide anything more than a general reflection of marketplace conditions compiled just prior to publication.
